What are your thoughts on the 16-bit era. Heres what I have to say
"The 16-bit Era. The best era of all time?
The 16-bit era a high point of video games. During this time we had the Sega
Genesis and the Super Nintendo. Also during this time we had some of the best
games released. Games such as Mortal Kombat and Chrono Trigger were released
during this time. Even the best console war was during the 16-bit era. The
console war between the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo was huge. It is
still today one of the biggest if not the biggest console war. It was also in
the 16-bit era were games had to be innovative. Graphics were not as important
as they are today. It was gameplay, story, and innovation that really makes
games good or bad. Take Super Metorid for an example. This game had great
gameplay because it took many different types of gameplay and put them all into
one game. Also in the days of the 16-bit era RPG I think really hit there beak.
Phansty Star 2-4 came out at this time. You also had some original RPG come
out at this time Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana for some examples. These RPG
are some of the best ever. These games were innovative something a lot of games
today are lacking.
RPG’s in the 16-bit era were great. As
I said above those games are innovative. That is not all though. The
RPG’s of the 16-bit era had some great
stories and some great gameplay to go with it. Take Phansty Star II for an
example. This RPG had a great story and had the surprise twist of Nei one of
the main characters having to die. Now Secret of Mana is great RPG because of
its game play. It was a real time RPG and it is one of the best games to do
real time battles well. Secret of Mana also had a great story to go along with
the great gameplay. Now Chrono Trigger is most likely the best RPG out of the
16-bit era This game got rid of random battles. You saw what you were going to
fight. The battle system for it was nothing revolutionary, but it was done very
well. The story though was great, spreading across many different time periods.
These games helped make the 16-bit era shine.
The 16-bit era was a time where there were many games got a cult following.
Games such as Gunstar Heroes and Contra III are some examples. These games were
quick reflex shooter games. Those game really got the cult following because 1.
They were just fun to play 2. There really addictive 3. The difficulty of the
games was very high which game gamers a huge challenge to try to beat the game
without dieing. These games were easy to pick up and play, but with difficulty
had something for the hardcore gamers. Another thing games today are missing
difficultly. This type of game is a type you
don’t see much anymore in
today’s era.
The 16-bit era also had some of the best games in a series. For example Super
Metorid is one of the best Metorid games ever. This game had tons of depth,
secrets, and upgrades. Super Metorid gameplay is great to. It takes many
different types of gameplay RPG, shooter, and adventure and put all those into
the game and it works perfectly. Another example would be A Legend of Zelda a
Link to the Past. This Zelda game is one of the best Zelda games in a series.
A Link to the Past give you a two huge worlds to explore, tons of items to get,
and great boss fights. A Link to the Past had great gameplay with its top down
view and its one of the simply addictive games.
Co-op games were big in the 16-bit era. Some of the best Co-op games were in
the 16-bit era. An example would be Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Zombies Ate My
Neighbors is a not well known game from Lucas Arts. Zombies Ate My Neighbors
though is a great game, but what really shines about the game is the Co-op. The
Co-op is just single player with an extra person, but there was something about
having a friend play through the game with you. Another great Co-op game was
Joe and Mac. The Co-op for Joe and Mac was the same as Zombies just single
player with an extra person, but its fun and addictive. The Co-op in the 16-bit
era is the best Co-op ever.
You can’t talk about the 16-bit era and
not talk about Sonic and Mario. Sonic and Mario were the icons for Sega and
Nintendo. When you talked about Sega and Nintendo Sonic and Mario always came
up. The Sonic and Mario games were good games. They were both platforms games,
however in the Sonic games you were meant to speed through levels as in the
Mario games weren’t as fast passed as
Sonic. These games did not do much to the platform genre, but they were
addictive and fun even to this day.
In conclusion I think the 16-bit era was one of the best if not the best time
for video games. Most games in the 16-bit era were innovative. Games in the
16-bit era had to be innovative to do well. Games need to be addictive as well.
The biggest console war was during that time. It would be great to experience
the 16-bit era once more."
Yep thats what I have to say about the 16-bit era. Thoughts and opions would be
helpfull
My fav would be Strike Freedom or Sword Impulse
I hope it will not shame the video games movies more than it already is
I like the First and CoM, but wish KH 2 would come out already
Marrowwind III for the x-box its just to long and a bit boaring to my tastes
Well halo is probley the best FPS you will get on the console. If you want the best of FPS's you need to play them on a PC
I'm going to get it, but I still think its comming out to early to could cause them so problems when the other new systems come out.
I liked Shawn of the Dead that was a funny movie
